Alan Gerson: "Trompe-L'oeil
Bulletin Boards"
This group of paintings
combines Gerson's interest in childhood, and the way children express
their experiences with childhood through their paintings and
drawings, and his fascination with the illusionist still-lifes
of traditional "trompe-l'oeil" painting. Translating
as "deceives the eye", these skillful works persuade
the viewer that he is looking at the actual objects represented,
rather than an illusionist painting.
