Jon Langford
Jon Langford is a visual artist and founder member of legendary
British punk rock band the Mekons and Chicago country-rockers the Waco Brothers.
Over the years he has been a frequent visitor to the city New Orleans and early in 2008 he
came back to play a benefit concert at The House Of Blues for Sweet Home New Orleans.
During that trip he met and performed with an array of New Orleans musicians and
visited sites of devastation and rebuilding all across the city.
The paintings and prints on show at LeMieux Galleries this spring are the direct
result of that visit and reflect Langford's awe and respect for the music, culture and
incredible optimism of the people of New Orleans in the face of tragedy and neglect.
